A Focus on Humanity

Consistent with 老司机福利网鈥檚 Jesuit tradition, the criminology and criminal justice programs at SLU seek to strengthen the criminal justice systems and communities by focusing on the factors that cause crime and violence and on the humanity of victims, offenders and practitioners.

Through immersive learning experiences in the communities in which they live, students connect with those involved in the criminal justice system inside and outside of the classroom.

A Comprehensive Curriculum

SLU鈥檚 criminology programs provide a comprehensive academic foundation to the nature of criminal offending, victimization, law enforcement, court administration, the law, and both community and institutional corrections.

As a student in these programs, you鈥檒l examine the causes and correlates of criminal behavior as well as the institutions that respond to such behavior. With this understanding, you'll be better prepared to navigate the criminal justice system and develop solutions to improve the system.

Prepared for the Future

The criminology and criminal justice programs at SLU are a good fit for students interested in legal studies, law enforcement at the local, state or federal levels, and working with adults and/or juveniles in correctional settings. The programs also provide a solid foundation for those interested in pursuing graduate education or a law degree.

Graduates of the programs have gone on to work in a variety of positions ranging from correctional officer to lawyer to researcher. Students graduate with the skills needed to work in the community and navigate the criminal justice system.
