Why I Love Being a SLU Billiken
The Billiken community is one of the most supportive and uplifting communities I’ve ever been a part of! Everyone here genuinely wants you to succeed whether it be other students, staff or faculty. Because of that, you can find yourself supported in every endeavor you undertake here. It’s hard to find an experience that hasn’t affirmed my decision to attend SLU. The communities I’ve found here, and the friends I’ve made have been wholly positive for me!
My Academic Highlights
has expanded my horizons drastically throughout my time here. Especially considering that I am planning on entering the medical field, it allows me to think about health care in an expanded scope. This semester, I am taking Controversies of Death and Dying for my minor, which is my favorite class I’ve taken at SLU!
Exploring St. Louis
You can’t go through four years at SLU without exploring the city, and there’s many
different things to do! I love taking the weekends to try things I have never done
before. There’s also some amazing food to eat all over the city!
What I Love Abut SLU's Campus
Here at SLU we have something called the ‘West Pine Effect.’ Basically, it means you can’t walk more than 20 feet on campus without running into someone that you know, which is something I can’t get enough of! Whenever it’s a nice day outside, you’ll see me at the tables in front of the Cross Cultural Center for Global Citizenship so that I can people-watch and chat with my friends!
My Favorite SLU Tradition
I’m part of Oriflamme, which is our Fall Welcome Orientation team, and my favorite tradition happens on the first day of first-year move-in. When the first car pulls into Laclede Parking Garage, the sea of students in orange shirts goes crazy with excitement to welcome our new Billikens home!
