McGeorge School of Law launches part-time hybrid program to support working professionals

The part-time evening program at 老司机福利网鈥檚  will become hybrid starting in fall 2026 to provide more flexibility for working professionals, making it only the third accredited law school in California to offer a part-time program in a hybrid format.

Students will attend classes in-person on Mondays and Tuesdays and online for the other two nights, replacing the current schedule of four nights in-person per week.

鈥淭his new format increases accessibility for working students tremendously,鈥 said Professor Dan Croxall 鈥08, associate dean of admissions. 鈥淏y only having in-person classes twice a week on back-to-back nights, it will be easier for people who are working and those a little farther away to access McGeorge鈥檚 first-class education.鈥

McGeorge鈥檚 part-time program is ranked No. 38 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, placing it among the top half of law schools nationwide among 

鈥淭he part-time evening program has given me the gift of balance,鈥 second-year law student Monique Magdaleno 鈥27 said. 鈥淎s a working professional and first-generation student, I chose McGeorge鈥檚 part-time program because it made it possible for me to support my family and still work toward my dream of becoming a lawyer.鈥

In recent years, innovations in teaching and new understandings about online learning have played a central role in how the curriculum is delivered. The result is a more convenient, but no less effective, method of instruction that provides access to legal education for all.

鈥淚t鈥檚 inspiring to be part of a cohort that shows up and works hard every night,鈥 Magdaleno said.

The full- and part-time divisions have the same curriculum, methods of instruction, scholastic standards and degree requirements. Part-time students complete the same courses, but their classes are spread over a four-year period rather than the traditional three-year track.

鈥淭he new hybrid part-time JD program is designed to combine the best attributes of in-person and online learning,鈥 Dean Michael Colatrella said. 鈥淭he program provides a meaningful in-person connection so that students can form professional connections with peers and faculty that are critical to learning and to building a professional network, while also having a flexible schedule that provides students the opportunity to realize their dream of becoming a lawyer who otherwise would not have the opportunity.鈥

Alumni from McGeorge鈥檚 part-time program serve as attorneys, judges, lobbyists, prosecutors, and leaders across public and private sectors.

In addition to the JD program鈥檚 new part-time hybrid offering, McGeorge also offers a fully online degree with five different concentrations and online offerings for the LLM degree programs for  and U.S. Law and Policy.
